I feel like it hasn't been all that long since my last haul post, but funnily enough they tend to get the most views so I thought I may as well share! I was in the UK last week, and as usual I spent quite a lot of money on the usual clothes, shoes and this time also makeup. Here's what I got:

I'm really not an expert on makeup (not that I'm an expert on fashion either, ahah) and I'm still figuring out what products I like - I've only ever used a couple of foundations but the Rimmel Wake Me Up is by far my favourite, so I took the opportunity to stock up. While I was browsing the Rimmel section I also picked up a few more bits and bobs, including a new eyeliner - previously I'd been using one that cost £1.50 from Primark, basically as I'd never used a liquid felt liner before and I didn't want to spend a fortune on something I wasn't sure I was going to use. But I actually love wearing liquid liner now, so I figured it was time to invest in a decent brand! I've been using it for a week or so and I really like it so far, it's safe to say it's so much better than the Primark one. I also got a Match Perfection concealer, which I've also been using and I much prefer to the Wake Me Up ones Rimmel do.

Again, from the 915 generation section. Although I have a couple of pairs of dungarees, I don't actually own any playsuits and I really liked this one for summer.

Can we all just take a moment to appreciate pleated skirts? This one is seriously thick and wooly, which I'm pleased with because it'll be great for what's left of winter. I probably own about 5 other black skirts, but who's counting?

This skirt is one of my favourite buys - it's black and white (yes, I know), and the material is really swishy and gorgeous. A minor detail perhaps, but I really like that the waistband is black because it kind of gives the illusion of a belt.

I've got really into Polyvore again recently - I think if I could only use one social networking-type site for the rest of my life, it would have to be Polyvore, although tumblr is a close second. I love the design process, from choosing the pictures and a colour scheme and arranging them 'artistically', to painstakingly putting the white borders around each one and finally finishing it off with an outfit to suit the set.

Sometimes I feel like being adventurous and getting a little more creative, since Polyvore offers infinite possibilities to the inspired mind, but even the process of making one of my standard sets is so enjoyable and cathartic in a way - there's nothing I love more than putting together a polyset while listening to an ASMR video.

So I'm not exactly quick off the mark with this once as it was my birthday on the 12th, but the half-term break happened in the intervening ten days and I was cruelly snatched away from the things I wanted to photograph for this post. But I thought I'd still share what I got here on my blog, as I love seeing people's birthday/christmas hauls and I'd also like to have this as a memory of what I got for such a significant birthday. Obviously I'm in no way trying to brag or show off, and I know I was extremely lucky to get everything I received!

The day itself was fairly anticlimatic - I had school of course, and a lot of my friends (myself included) were quite ill around that week so it wasn't the best time health-wise. But I still had a wonderful day and received a lot of birthday messages and wishes, and of course lovely gifts!

From one of my aunts I got the Dior book (in the middle), and from another I got a beautiful necklace (box on the left) which actually has my birthstone in it. My grandparents gave me charms for my Pandora bracelet, and another of my aunts also gave me a charm - I have 18 now, which is very fitting! My brother gave me the manicure set in the butterfly case (top left), which was very thoughtful of him, haha. I also got a Topshop voucher from one of my cousins, so I'm excited to spend that.

I got the DVF purse from one of my dad's colleagues at work - it was very unexpected and especially nice of her to think of me as I've only met her a couple of times! From my two best friends I got the instax mini 8 Polaroid camera, which I'm absolutely thrilled with as I've wanted one for ever and ever - they know me too well! I also got the nail polish from another of my friends.

Since my last post my birthday happened, so that's a thing - I turned 18 and it still hasn't really clicked that I'm an actual official adult. I want to do a post talking more about my birthday and maybe about what I got, but I so far haven't have time to take any photos of anything and tomorrow I'm off to the UK. So I'll be doing that when I get back, mostly likely along with a haul of what I've bought in the UK as I think it's physically impossible for me to go there and not come back having bought ridiculous amounts of stuff.

So anyway, onto what I actually wanted to talk about. Way back in August of last year I posted about by recent discovery of ASMR videos on YouTube. I'm still enjoying delving into the wonderful world of ASMR whenever I need to step back from everyday life and relax, and I've discovered a lot of new ASMRtists in recent months, including BrittanyASMR who has become one of my all time faves.

Today I thought I'd share my top five go-to ASMR videos which I always come back to. I must have watched each of these over twenty times, as they're extremely effective at giving me that tingly feeling. If you don't know what I'm talking about, check out this post!

The day after my exams finished I finally got round to spending the £60 worth of Amazon vouchers I got for Christmas, and everything was finally delivered the other day. As always, I'm so excited about all of this but at the same time I'm silently questioning exactly when I'm going to read all of these, given I have so little time to read these days and also a considerable number of unread books already on my shelves. I'm justifying it because not all of these are novel-type books (although how that makes it any better I don't know) - I finally got my hands on Rookie Yearbook One and Grace's Guide, and decided to throw in Tanya Burr's book Love Tanya as well.

This week my aunt travelled over from England for a couple of days for a cultural city break in Brussels. As Wednesday is a half day for me at school, I met her in town after school and we went to to the Brussels Museum of Costume and Lace. Last year I did a huge history research project on European fashion in the 20th century, and I desperately wanted to visit the museum at the time, but never got round to it - so I was thrilled to finally get to have a look round.

The museum is really close to the Grand-Place, the central square of Brussels where there are loads of cafés and historical buildings. Tucked away in the little back streets are endless chocolate and tourist shops, but also many a hidden treasure, and this museum is definitely one of those. Also, the entry was only €2 which is more than a bargain!

The exhibition changes every year, and this time it's all about the glamour of the 1930s. I have to confess the thirties aren't my favourite decade (I prefer the twenties and the sixties), but nevertheless it was really interesting to see everything I'd found out while doing research for my project in the flesh - or fabric, so to speak.

Oh, and I stupidly forgot to take my new camera, so I'm afraid we've gone fittingly vintage with the quality of these photos!

I'll definitely be going back when the exhibition changes, and hopefully I'll take my decent camera then!

Although school started again today, recently I've been enjoying my few days off after the end of exams and naturally I found time for a quick shopping trip. It really was quick, as I'd gone to the shopping centre with my mum to look at possible 18th birthday presents and I had about half an hour left before we had to leave.
